Tofu is an excellent source of protein for vegans and vegetarians. Its rich texture and great taste make it a perfect side dish for any cuisine. You can either enjoy a specific tofu dish or add it to your noodles, salad or enjoy it baked. Here is a recipe to make quick and easy pan-fried sesame crispy tofu at home.

  • 200 gm Tofu
  • Cornstarch
  • Sesame oil
  • Vegetable oil
  • Soy sauce
  • Honey
  • Salt
  • Garlic paste
  • Rice wine vinegar

How to make pan-fried crispy Tofu?

  1. Place 2 paper towels on a plate and put tofu on it. Then put 2 more paper towels on the top of the tofu and press it with a heavy object. Do not use an extra heavy object as it can crush the tofu. Let the tofu drain for some time.
  2. Once drained, cut the tofu into medium size cubes.
  3. Put tofu cubes into a large bowl. Then sprinkle cornstarch and gently toss it so that all the tofu is coated well.
  4.  Heat a large skillet and add 1 tbsp sesame oil and vegetable oil.
  5.  Once the oil is heated, add tofu pieces to it. Stir the tofu pieces occasionally and let them get brown.
  6.  For the sauce, take a small bowl and add rice wine vinegar, honey, garlic paste, and soy sauce. Mix all the ingredients well.
  7.  Now add the sauce to the skillet and slowly stir it. Add salt according to your taste.
  8. Toss the tofu when the sauce starts to thicken and switch off the gas.
  9. Serve the pan-fried crispy tofu with sesame seeds on top.

Chef Tip: For crispy tofu, coat it well with cornstarch. Moreover, do not stir the tofu on the skillet. Let it slowly get brown on low to medium heat.
