Pizza is hands down the most famous Italian dish. It is enjoyed by both kids and adults and is a complete delight to your taste buds. The recipe includes a homemade pizza base with marinara and mushroom toppings. Quick and easy to make, this mushroom pizza will surely be everyone's favorite.

For the pizza dough:

  • 500 grams of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon instant dry yeast
  • 1.5 cups warm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt

Toppings:

  • ½ cup marinara sauce/pizza sauce
  • 100 grams mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 5-6 basil leaves
  • Oregano spice mix
  • Salt and Pepper

Nothing beats a classic homemade mushroom pizza!

For the dough: 

  1. Mix instant yeast, sugar, olive oil, and warm water. Set aside for 10-15 minutes till it gets foamy.
  2. Mix the all-purpose flour with salt in a large bowl. Make a small well in the center. 
  3. Add the yeast and lukewarm water mixture to the well. Knead all these ingredients together. 
  4. Let the dough rest for 4 hours. Ensure that you cover the dough with a cling film or a cloth. 

For the pizza: 

  1. After the dough has risen, preheat the oven to 200 °C for 15-20 minutes. 
  2. Roll out the dough into a base by using flour so that it does not stick. This dough makes approximately 4 pizza bases.
  3. Spread the marinara sauce on the base and add your mushrooms and basil leaves. Also, layer it with mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle some oregano on top.
  4. Bake the pizza for about 10 minutes or till the edges look golden brown. Serve hot!

Chef Tip: Be generous with the mushrooms as they shrink in the oven. Add more to your liking.
