One of the most popular Korean dishes, Bulgogi is a go-to comfort meal. It is spicy, tangy, and aromatic. Bulgogi means ‘fire meat’. While a typical bulgogi recipe uses beef, you can use any meat, such as chicken or pork. Our super easy bulgogi recipe promises to be a real crowd-pleaser.

  • 1 chopped garlic clove
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 pound beef or chicken breasts (or your choice of meat)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Half a pear or red apple
  • Pepper flakes or gochujang (based on your spice tolerance level)

  1. Mix the soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, pepper flakes, ginger, sugar, grated pear, and sesame oil in a bowl.
  2. Slice the meat thinly using a sharp knife.
  3. Put the sliced meat into the bowl and mix everything well. 
  4. Cover the mixture using a cling film and let it rest for at least 10 minutes.
  5. Place a pan on the stove and pour in the vegetable oil.
  6. Once it heats up, add in your meat mixture and stir.
  7. Cook till the meat browns. 
  8. Sprinkle some sea salt or table salt on top.
  9. Serve hot with chopped spring onions.

Chef Tip: Remember to use the tender part of the meat you choose. Also, we recommend freezing the meat for a couple of hours before cutting it. This makes it easier to slice through.
