  • 1 ¼ cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • ½ cup Cocoa
  • ¾ cup Milk 
  • ½ cup Oil
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder 
  • Salt
  • ¾ cup Hot Water
  • 2 cups Whipping Cream
  • 2 cups Dark Chocolate
  • ¼ cup Cream

A Decadent Cake Recipe for the People You Love the Most!

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Line 2 butter trays with butter /parchment paper.
  2. Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl. Next, slowly fold the wet ingredients into the bowl.
  3. Divide the batter into the 2 trays and bake for 15 minutes.
  4. Once baked, allow the cakes to cool. 
  5. Melt the cream and the chopped dark chocolate in the microwave, or on the stove.
  6. Add the melted chocolate goodness into the stiff whipped cream. Mix gently.
  7. Cut the cake in half. Spread a layer of the mousse on one side of the cake. Stack the second half of the cake on top of the mousse layer and spread another layer of the mousse. 
  8. Top the cake with a delicious spread of our favorite chocolate ganache and chill the cake for a few hours.

• Legend has it that French patissier Louis Dufour coined the idea for chocolate truffles on Christmas Day, 1895 in Chambray, France. He had run out of ideas for Christmas treats to sell to his customers which is when he decided to try something new. He made up a ganache, shaped it not a round ball, and then dipped it into melted chocolate.

• Chocolate truffle was named after a precious black truffle fungus because of its physical resemblance to that mushroom.

• Mousse first hit the commercial culinary scene in the year 1894 but was reserved for ingredients such as fish and vegetables. Then in the early 1900s, the famous French artist Toulouse Lautrec had the brilliant idea of mixing in chocolate to the graceful and airy invention.
